The Main Hall
With capacity for up to 400 guests, the Main Hall can be configured in many ways, making it a versatile venue hire choice for celebrations, exhibitions, fundraisers, dances, parties and weddings. It’s also easy to open the adjoining Edwardian Room and/or the Victorian Room and add those spaces to your booking to create more space.
Performances and productions of all kinds can be accommodated in the Main Hall, with generous backstage space, two dressing rooms, and - of course - a large, impressive stage from which to delight seated audiences of up to 280. You’ll also have access to a bar, kitchen, ticket office and toilets so attendees will be well catered for. Our manager is a classically trained professional musician and event organiser who understands your needs and can help you get the most out of the space.

The Victorian Room
A flexible meeting room hire option, the Victoria Room has its own access door from Victoria Street and can be split into two separate spaces using the concertina dividing door. Often used for meetings and events of up to 250 attendees, but also suitable for much smaller groups, this room has a raised dais and its own kitchenette and toilet.
The Edwardian Room
A cosy room with a well-proportioned raised dais, the Edwardian Room is an intimate space to gather groups, hold meetings and entertain up to 65 seated audience members with talks, music, comedy and more. The kitchen offers basic catering facilities, and a small bar area keeps things convivial.
Whichever space you choose for your event, we'll work with you to ensure that things run smoothly.

Cambridge Town Hall is an affordable venue choice for your next event and we proudly support community groups by offering them reduced hire fees.
Wedding & Ceremony Packages
The large capacity of the Town Hall allows you to host a beautiful, budget-friendly wedding for up to 250 people, so you won’t have to cut friends and whanau from the guest list. We also accommodate smaller, more intimate weddings as well as birthday parties, engagements, naming ceremonies and receptions. Whatever you're celebrating, the Town Hall can offer you a package that brings your big event within easy reach.
Catering & Beverages
We’re one of just a few venues of this size to offer self-catering kitchen facilities and a BYO drinks option so that you can keep your event costs down. You also have the option of bringing in your preferred professional caterer, and Cambridge offers an impressive variety to choose from. If you plan to run a cash bar or sell alcohol at your event, you'll need a license, so talk to our events manager to make sure all the boxes are ticked.
Accessibility
Cambridge Town Hall warmly welcomes everyone. Accessibility parking and toilets are available, and there’s a ramp at our entrance on Lake Street. If you have additional needs, please contact us – we’re here to help.

Can I hire the whole building?
Yes, you can choose to hire the entire Town Hall for your sole use.
Is my group size too small for room hire at Cambridge Town Hall?
Probably not. A room divider can split the Victorian Room to create a more intimate space for smaller meetings and events, and we offer a wide variety of set-up options for all available rooms.
Do you accommodate self-catering events?
Yes, we’re proud to be one of just a few venues of this size offering the option of self-catering. This gives you more control over your event budget and means the Town Hall can remain a viable venue choice for community groups, families and couples getting married.
What facilities and services are included with room hire?
Room hire includes use of kitchen and toilet facilities, wifi access, tables, chairs and a lectern.
How much does it cost to hire the Hall?
The Town Hall is an affordable venue and pricing depends on which room(s) you’d like to hire and for how long. To keep the Town Hall accessible to all, we also offer reduced rates for community groups. You can view the pricing schedule here
Can we serve alcohol at our event?
Yes, alcohol may be served at your event. If you plan to run a cash bar or sell alcohol, a special license has to be obtained from Waipa District Council. This is a straightforward process, but please allow 20 working days for your application to be processed.
Do you have wifi available?
Yes, high-speed wifi is available at Cambridge Town Hall.
Do I need to pay a deposit to secure my booking?
Yes, a deposit of 25% of the hire fee is required to secure your booking.
Do I need to pay a cleaning fee?
Hirers are responsible for cleaning at the end of their event. If additional cleaning is found to be required, the hirer will be invoiced. If you’d like to arrange professional cleaning to be done for you (at additional cost), please talk with our manager.
Is Cambridge Town Hall available as a location for film and television productions?
Yes, Cambridge Town Hall is a beautiful category-two historic building and has served as the backdrop to several film and television productions. Please contact our manager to discuss your requirements.
Is the building accessible to wheelchair users?
Yes, Cambridge Town Hall welcomes everyone and we have a ramp for those who need it, as well as accessible toilets and carparking spaces.
Can I bring my own band/DJ?
Yes, you can choose the band or DJ that best suits your event.
Can I get assistance with event set-up?
